The location of this hotel is fantastic, right in the centre of Tavistock-a great town with lots of things to do and see. the hotel is near the centre of town, making it convenient for exploring. the rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. the service at the hotel is excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to ensure your needs are met. the breakfast is delicious, with a variety of options to choose from.
There is a humming noise that can be heard at night, which can be quite disruptive and prevent a good night's sleep.

Great food, friendly staff Spent the Xmas holidays at this hotel, and food was the best thing about it. the dinner on Xmas Eve was delicious and the breakfast on Xmas Day was also tasty. the staff were friendly and accommodating, even providing us with extra blankets when the room was cold. the location was also convenient, being close to the town center and main attractions. Enjoyed the free parking on-site as well.
Small room, noisy surroundings the room was quite small and cramped, with little space to move around. the noise from the street outside was also unbearable, with people shouting and loud music playing until the early hours of the morning.

The staff were really nice and made you feel relaxed and at home. The hotel was really interesting and in a fabulous location.
The room was really hot and there was no fan in our room, and it was very noisy with folks shouting till very late outside, then glass recycling truck in early hours etc, the room my mother stayed in was very noisy too in the other building due to the kitchen fans and staff getting things from the store rooms. Fine for a short break but tiresome for a long visit.

Staff were generally welcoming and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Food was good.
Both rooms we had overlooked the High Street and we were all disturbed on both nights of our stay by "revellers" leaving other venues. If we stay at Browns again we will have to insist on rooms at the back of the hotel. We would recommend thye hotel to other travellers but with the proviso that they are aware of how noisy the rooms at the front of the hotel can be.

The food was excellent, especially the butternut squash veloutee, and the yoghurt at breakfast.
The shower glass door was a little difficult - you couldn't get the shower to the right temperataure without getting wet first!! We would have liked not to have moved the car to a car park.

We thought that Hannah the receptionist was superb. She was ,right no the ball, with everything from help with car parking to being around at breakfast time with our newspapers on the breakfast table. She really is exceptional and a great asset to the hotel. The hotel is so clean and the beds comfortable. A wonderful place to stay!
Through no fault of the hotels, the car parking is not easy, but there are parking places on the street outside.

It was central and friendly. Good ambience and cosy lounge. Better value due to fact we were upgraded to a four poster room.
Bathroom fittings tired and in need of replacement especially flooring. Food disappointing. Great steak but covered in sweet balsamic sauce. Other dishes well presented but lacked taste. Expensive compared to similar places.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The continental breakfasts were wholesome and plentiful, we particularly enjoyed the vanilla rive puddings! We will certainly stay again and recommend Browns to others.
The only criticism is the woeful parking situation, being charged £5.00 per night for a very tight slot. A friendly parking warden showed us where we could park overnight for free.

We liked the ambience that the friendly staff created. The rooms were fine & well appointed however from ours in the annexe we could hear all the noises from the kitchen including the extractor which started in the morning. The central position was great & it was also very near to the moors.

Room very spacious and large bath. Location very good for shopping.
Mould under window in bedroom. Heating not on in room on arrival as on timer, was cold. Expect room to be warm. Not your normal menu ie brill, beetroot tart, duck & ox. Very expensive. Brasserie a bit cheaper. Disappointed breakfast was continental for the price of the rooms. Cooked extra. Was not approached if required toast or more tea.
